Sunflower microgreens

Thick, nutty and properly crunchy. Holds up under dressing and in wraps.

Sunflower microgreens are young sunflower shoots with thick, juicy stems, a fresh nutty taste and a real crunch. I sell them in a 60 g pack for $7, and they’re one of the four greens in every Super Pack, harvested on Monday, packed in Richmond and at your door in Vancouver on Tuesday.

What sunflower microgreens taste like

Nutty and fresh, a little like sunflower seeds, with a hint of sweetness. The leaves are broad and deep green, and the stems are thick and juicy. They’re the crunchiest green I deliver.

Because they’re sturdy, they don’t wilt under a dressing, which makes them the best green for salads, wraps and anything packed for later.

How to use sunflower microgreens

Use them like a crunchy salad leaf, by the handful.

  • As a saladA whole handful with your usual dressing, on its own or with lettuce.
  • In wraps and sandwichesThey keep their crunch under sauce, so they’re made for lunch.
  • On rice bowlsWith grilled chicken, tofu or salmon and a sesame dressing.
  • As a snackStraight from the box, or with hummus.
  • On burgersIn place of lettuce, for more crunch.
  • In stir friesTossed in for the last few seconds, so they stay crisp.

It pairs well with pea shoots: the nutty crunch and the sweet, tender leaves make a salad on their own, with lemon and olive oil.

How to keep them fresh

Put the box in the fridge as soon as it’s in. In the fridge, in the closed box, they stay fresh for up to 10 days. Keep them dry, and rinse them just before you eat them.

More tips are in my guide to storing and using microgreens.

What’s in a pack

A single pack is 60 g of sunflower microgreens for $7, in a clear box. Sunflower is also one of the four greens in every Super Pack, beside broccoli, red radish and pea shoots: 140 g for the whole box, $25 on its own or $20 a box on the weekly plan.

Delivery is included, no tax is added, and the minimum order for delivery is $20. Any three single packs reach the minimum, or add a Super Pack.

How it gets to you

Harvested on Monday, weighed and packed in Richmond, and at your door on Tuesday, during the day, anywhere in Vancouver west of Knight Street. You don’t need to be home: I leave your box at your door.

Orders close at 8 pm on the Sunday before each Tuesday up to the Nov 24, 2026 box, and at 9 am on the Monday before each Tuesday from the Dec 1, 2026 box. Checkout shows your Tuesday before you pay.

Allergens

Sunflower shoots grow from sunflower seeds. If you’re allergic to sunflower seeds, don’t eat them.

I pack every green in the same place, so any pack may have a trace of another green, mustard included.

Questions

What do sunflower microgreens taste like?

Nutty and fresh, a little like sunflower seeds, with a juicy crunch. They’re mild, with no heat.

Why is the sunflower pack 60 g?

Sunflower shoots are thick and heavy, so a single pack holds 60 g instead of 50 g.

Is there anything to pick off?

Now and then a seed hull sticks to a leaf. Just pick it off before you eat.

Where can I buy sunflower microgreens in Vancouver?

From me, online. I deliver 60 g packs of sunflower microgreens for $7 to homes in Vancouver, west of Knight Street, every Tuesday. Add a Sunflower pack in the shop on my homepage. The minimum order for delivery is $20, so order at least three single packs, or add a Super Pack, to reach it. Delivery is included.
