Pea shoots

Sweet fresh pea with a snappy stem. Great raw, or tossed into a stir fry at the very end.

Pea shoots are young pea plants: tender leaves and snappy stems that taste like fresh peas. I sell them in a 50 g pack for $7, and they’re one of the four greens in every Super Pack, harvested on Monday, packed in Richmond and at your door in Vancouver on Tuesday.

What pea shoots taste like

Sweet and green, like a pea straight from the pod. The stems snap when you bite them, and the leaves are soft and tender.

They’re the sweetest green I deliver, and the easiest to eat by the handful.

How to use pea shoots

Eat them raw, or give them a few seconds of heat at the very end. They wilt fast, so add them last.

  • In ramen and noodle soupsA handful on top, just before serving.
  • In stir friesToss them in for the last 30 seconds, until they just wilt.
  • As a snackStraight from the box.
  • In saladsWith feta, mint and lemon.
  • In smoothiesA handful with banana and mango.
  • On pastaStirred through a lemony pasta once it’s off the heat.

They pair well with broccoli: two mild greens that go in by the handful, in a smoothie, a noodle bowl or a salad.

How to keep them fresh

Put the box in the fridge as soon as it’s in. In the fridge, in the closed box, they stay fresh for up to 10 days. Keep them dry, and rinse them just before you eat them.

More tips are in my guide to storing and using microgreens.

What’s in a pack

A single pack is 50 g of pea shoots for $7, in a clear box. Pea shoots are also one of the four greens in every Super Pack, beside broccoli, red radish and sunflower: 140 g for the whole box, $25 on its own or $20 a box on the weekly plan.

Delivery is included, no tax is added, and the minimum order for delivery is $20. Any three single packs reach the minimum, or add a Super Pack.

How it gets to you

Harvested on Monday, weighed and packed in Richmond, and at your door on Tuesday, during the day, anywhere in Vancouver west of Knight Street. You don’t need to be home: I leave your box at your door.

Orders close at 8 pm on the Sunday before each Tuesday up to the Nov 24, 2026 box, and at 9 am on the Monday before each Tuesday from the Dec 1, 2026 box. Checkout shows your Tuesday before you pay.

Allergens

Pea shoots grow from peas. If you’re allergic to peas, don’t eat them.

I pack every green in the same place, so any pack may have a trace of another green, mustard included.

Questions

Are pea shoots the same as pea microgreens?

Yes. Pea shoots are what pea microgreens are usually called: young pea plants, eaten for their leaves and stems.

Can I cook pea shoots?

Yes, briefly. Toss them into a stir fry or a soup for the last 30 seconds, until they just wilt. Any longer and they go soft.

Are pea shoots in the Super Pack?

Yes. Every Super Pack has broccoli, red radish, sunflower and pea shoots, packed side by side, 140 g for the whole box.

Where can I buy pea shoots in Vancouver?

From me, online. I deliver 50 g packs of pea shoots (pea microgreens) for $7 to homes in Vancouver, west of Knight Street, every Tuesday. Add a Pea Shoots pack in the shop on my homepage. The minimum order for delivery is $20, so order at least three single packs, or add a Super Pack, to reach it. Delivery is included.
